Sword Wall
How should I best care for and display an officer's dress sword? Any ideas?
My father recently gave me the sword he received when he graduated from the USAFA. It's a beautiful thing, steel and silver with a matching scabbard. I treasure this gift, as I'm extremely proud of my dad and his service as a pilot in Viet Nam. I think I want to clean it up nicely and mount it on the wall in my house. How should I clean it, and what mounting methods should I consider?
I would think they make an oil or preservative for knives, swords and things found a your local Target. I know a person that has a sword mounted in a shadowbox with patches from her father's uniform and awards, etc. surrounding. The background of the shadowbox is an American flag folded neatly. It's awe inspiring to look at.
