how can you sharpen a pocket knife easily with thing you can find at home i need answers?
i got a new pocket knife but i need to sharpen it because the tip is a bit dull anyone help me please :{)
The simplest and more forgiving method is mousepad and sandpaper.
Just put the sandpaper on the mousepad and using trailing motion sharpen it. To get a good edge you'd need several different grits though.

Other than that you'd need sharpeners. Sorry, no other way.
Sliding knife against the other knife doesn't sharpen anything. It's a primitive form of steeling. Steeling does the same as stropping, i.e. rubbing the blade against leather strop. Both methods are intended to align the deformed edge, while sharpening actually removes metal.
Plate can do some sharpening, but it's rough and too uneven to provide any usable edge. Plus, like a sharpening stone it's not very forgiving to novices, i.e. you'd have ot hold the angle very consistently and with plates that's even more difficult than with stones that are flat and rectangular.
