Switchblade/Spring Assisted Knives?
I just turned 18 last month, and I live in Michigan. It is illegal to own and carry a switchblade/spring assisted/automatic knife in my state. I was wondering if I bought a switchblade online on an out-of-state website, would they mail it to a state where switchblades are illegal?
It is illegal to own a spring assisted/automatic knife in Michigan? I think not.
"The CSC and AKTI also point out that court cases in several states such as California, Illinois, Michigan and Texas have all ruled in favor of assisted-opening and one-hand opening knives not being switchblades because they do not possess the activating button or device on the handle of the knife."
California has the strictest law. It is a misdemeanor to display or show a switchblade/spring assisted/automatic knife for sale. They decide a ban would put sportsmen at risk. Skydivers have used them to cut away chutes, divers defended against attacks, fisherman to clear tangled lines, first responders to free individuals and etc. Common sense. If you carry with the intent to do bodily harm it is a felony. Airport felony.
So you can order, own, and possess at this time. I would not recommend you flash it around in public. Use it as a sportsman. Homeland Security is trying to ban them but like I have stated they have saved sportsmen's live as they are intend to be used for. To carry with the intent to do bodily harm is a felony.
