Do Cane Swords/daggers Count As Concealed Weapons?

Posted in Sword Cane by admin 5 Comments

i've heard some people say they do, but i always counter by saying it's just a scabbard, just because the sword/dagger doesn't have any sort of hand guard, doesn't mean it's concealed. it's like using a 'regular' sword in a scabbard as a walking stick.

but any way, am i right or wrong?
since when do you need a permit to carry a bladed weapon?
it's no different than walking down the street w/ a sword in a scabbard.

It counts as a concealed weapon because the fact that it is a weapon is disguised. However, such definitions are decided by each State.

In California, it's illegal to even own such things.

You would be silly to conceal, and walk around with it either way.

Here, easy answer: do you have any weapons permits? No? Then you cannot carry weapons.

    Problem solved.

I think blades over 4" long are considered "weapons". Concealed weapons permits are required for all weapons, not just guns.

That said, in many areas you can "open carry" guns or knives. Are you really planning on concealing a 3.5′ bladed weapon?

You might check out opencarry.org or one of the concealed carry websites. They deal mostly with guns, but most have a section for knives.
