Is It Legal To Carry A Katana (single-edged Japanese Sword? In Public?
Is it legal to carry a sword around in California, Switzerland, or Japan? If you need a license, how do you get one? Does the type of sword matter? How about a katana or a sword cane? Thanks to all who answer.
I can't speak for Switzerland or Japan, but in California the only prohibition for the most part would be that you could not carry a sword concealed on your person (in a sheath is not concealed). There are some places that you could not have it, such as schools and public buildings. No license is required for knives or swords. Cane swords, however, are illegal to possess anywhere.

It is legal to carry it in most countries I believe provided you can prove you are not going to use it to harm or threaten people.
If you’re wearing it on your belt or strapped to your back I doubt you could get away with it
