They have stick control in California you cant OWN batons /carry escrima sticks/have baseball bats in the passenger area of your car. Mace doesn’t kill. Tasers have killed by accident but that is not their intention or very common. You will get arrested for a machete as you don’t have any use for it as a tool in dowtown Chicago. A knife/shovel can BECOME weapons based on INTENT of use and thats what police guage by. Why be arrested for a shovel if they believed you had good intentions with it?

Sure, carry a shovel or a machete in your town and see if you don’t get arrested. Having even a holstered utility tool can get you put in jail. Even a small utility knife could be construed as a hidden weapon and land you in jail.

True a knife or shovel can be implemented as a weapon but their primary purpose has been to serve humanity for thousands of years for utilitarian tasks. A sword kills, thats all. What about a sword being inside a cane helps the physically impaired walk? I’m not against cane swords but get over this idea that you’ll convince a jury that it’s utilitarian to skewer a mugger. If this were merely a sword then yes, I would have to agree with you that it shouldn’t be carried with you in public; however, that is not the case, and I could just as easily say that a shovel or a knife could be used explicitly as a weapon. Sword canes are 100% ILLEGAL to carry just about everywhere and if you are caught with one you will find yourself first in jail, and then in court and paying a lawyer $50,000 to try and keep you from going to prison.
